Follow the chapter missions. They walk you through setting up your estate.
Claim your daily login reward every day.
Join an active alliance. Members trade items, send help and troops, and share research boosts. Look for active players, good coordination and good territory.
Keep your builders and research queues busy.
Read Events & wars before your first event.

Playing for free

You get a free VIP bonus after the tutorial. Tap VIP at the top left and activate it.
Sign in every day to earn VIP points. VIP boosts production speed and combat.
Joining an active alliance gives you free gold.
Hunt threats and red guard camps (the enemies you attack on the world map) daily. They are your main free source of speedups and guard badges.

Habits that pay off

Check the event calendar every day and join what you can.
Save speedups for when they count. See Basics.
Ask in alliance chat before big decisions you can't undo, such as spending talent points.

Mistakes to avoid

Burning speedups on low-value upgrades.
Growing your estate while ignoring defense. Keep the two in balance.
